Chennai: DMK president and former Tamilnadu chief minister M Karunanidhi will have to spend a few more days in hospital despite his condition being stable.

A health bulletin released at 6.30 pm today by Kauvery Hospital that is treating him, said, "Although there has been resolution of the condition which led to his hospital admission, an extended period of hospitalisation will be necessary due to age-related overall decline in his general health, altered liver function and haemotological parameters."

It stated that he maintains his vital signs "with active medical support".

The bulletin said he was admitted to hospital due to drop in blood pressure and that he developed difficulty in breathing on Sunday but that his vital signs had gradually normalised.
