ISKCON gears up for Krishna Jayanthi

Chennai: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is celebrating 'Sri Krishna Janmashtami' on 2 and 3 September at its centre off the ECR.

According to a press release, Sri Krishna Yajna will be conducted on 1 September, from 3 pm to 5 pm.

The Adivas ceremony followed by arati and prasadam, will be held from 6 pm onwards.

Radha Krishna, the presiding deities of ISKCON Chennai, will be bedecked in a special decoration for the occasion.

Darshan will be open throughout the day. Special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth vehicle parking, quick movement in darshan lines and archana seva. Prasadam will be served to all visitors.

The main highlight of the day (3 September) will be the elaborate Conch-abhisheka to the utsava deities Radha Krishna Chandravali beginning from 10.30 pm and culminating with arati, kirtan and anukalpa prasadam at midnight, coinciding with the time of Krishna's birth.

To help people visit the temple, buses are plying from Koyambedu to ISKCON temple till 12 am. Also elaborate arrangements are made for public amenities, wheel chairs for disabled-persons and elders.

For children, a small playing area have been set up. As more people are expected to visit the temple, police booth, ambulance and fire service will be stationed.

TTD Trust Board chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav Garu and Hindu Makkal Katchi State president Arjun Sampath will participate, the release said.
