Guv to launch book on Swami Ramanujar

Chennai: To honour Swami Ramanujar and his teachings to the mankind, Governor Banwarilal Purohit will launch a book titled 'Swami Ramanuja Dig Vijayam' and 'Desika Geetham', an audio CD on 8 July at Vani Mahal.

Commemorating the 750th birth anniversary of Swami Vedanta Desikan, Sampradaya Anushtana Rakshana Abhiman (SARAN) and Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha is organising Desika Bhakthi Samrajyam, a cultural extravaganza on 6, 7 and 8 July.

"The event is first of its kind that's being organised by SARAN and we aim to propagate the teachings of Swami Vedanta Desikan in an innovative way so that it reaches wider audience and get benefited to lead a dharmic life. The programmes are planned to suit people of all age groups," said SARAN founder U Ve Ananntha Padmanabhachariar at  a press meet here on Wednesday.

The cultural event is planned to be a mix of Nama Sankeerthanam, debate, discussion, Villupattu. The valedictory function and the award  ceremony will be presided by the Governor.

Rajagopalan Vasudevan, pioneer of plastic roads and Kaveri Ranganathan, catalyst in initiating Kaveri Management Board will be conferred with Desika Seva Rathna award on the occasion.
