Chennai: Almost confirming the merger of the two AIADMK factions and the appointment of new Ministers, Tamilnadu and Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao cancelled his plans in Mumbai and airdashed to Chennai this afternoon.

Soon after the merger of the two teams, a cabinet reshuffle is likely to happen to induct Panneerselvam as the Deputy Chief Minister and some of his supporters as Ministers.

The swearing-in of a new cabinet headed by EdappadiPalaniswami was likely to happen today itself at Raj Bhavan.

Sources revealed that OPS supporter K Pandiarajan will be the new School Education Minister, while Sengottaiyan will be made Public Works Department minister.

On the party side, Panneerselvam would be the chief of the unified AIADMK with full powers to run the party, and top leaders from his side were also expected to be given key party posts.

The merger of the two factions gained momentum after the Chief Minister had on 17 August announced a judicial probe into the death of Jayalalithaa and converting 'Veda Nilayam', her Poes Garden residence, into a public memorial, fulfilling the key demands of the OPS camp.

Their demand for 'sidelining' T T V Dinakaran, who was made deputy general secretary by his aunt Sasikala before surrendering before the trial court in Bengaluru, was already taken by the ruling camp and a similar decision on Sasikala was on the cards today.
