Ex-commissioner George appears before Arumughasamy panel

Chennai: Former Chennai City Police Commissioner George surrendered to Justice Arumugasamy commission today afternoon in connection with his activities during the last stages of Late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's life. Not only that, sources said, he will soon be investigated by the commission regarding his role as the Police Commissioner during that time.

Post Jayalalithaa's demise, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami setup an inquiry commission headed by a retired High Court Judge Arumugasamy to probe her death in September 2017. During the course of his investigations, various shocking details emerged including the video of her taking food, her list with the food menu and many more.

One of the recent findings of the commission was the change of stand of three important individuals related in the probe. Jayalalithaa's personal security officer (PSO) Veeraperumal, former TRANSTAN member-secretary P Balaji and State government doctor Balaji were the ones who have recorded with controversial statements.

It must be noted as to how George is going to respond to questions now. With the investigations being very stringent, it is very likely that fresh details might be obtained from the Former Commissioner.
