CM Palaniswami releases book on Saint Ramanujar

Chennai: Following the millinneum year of Sri Ramanujar, the State government has come up with a lot of initiatives to remember the Vaishnavite saint.

A new memorial is being constructed for the saint at his birthplace, Sriperumbudur, at a cost of Rs 6 crore on 2.77 acres of land.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami released a book comprising the biography of Ramanujar, titled 'Ramanujar Vainava Maanidhi'.

The book was released in three languages, Tamil, Telugu and English, by the Chief Minister at the Secretariat today. The first copy of the book was received by Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, Sevvur S Ramachandran.

On Tuesday, which marked the culmination of the year-long celebration of the Vaishnavite saint's  1,000th birth anniversary, 54 garlands from 54 Diva Desams of Vaishnavism in the State were presented to Ramanujar at Sriperumbudur.

The government has been taking up a number of initiatives to mark the grand anniversary, including renovation of Adikesava Perumal Baashyakara Swamy temple in Sriperumbudur.
