3 Chennai youth held for robbing policeman of cellphone

Chennai: Three persons, one of them a juvenile, have been arrested by the city police for stealing a police inspector's mobile phone.

According to the police, Inspector of Police, Armed Reserve, Pudupet Police Station, Manimaran (25), lodged a complaint that on 2 September, three men on a two-wheeler snatched his mobile phone.

A resident of Mandaveli, the Inspector alleged that he was near V K Ayyar Street when a trio on a bike rode past, snatching his mobile worth Rs 19,000.

Following the complaint, police checked the CCTV in the area and arrested three persons.

The accused have been identified as Venkatesan (20) from Adyar, Megasurya (20) from Otteri and a 17-year-old juvenile.

The police also seized five mobile phones and a bike from them.

Saravanan (20) from Adyar was also taken into custody for helping the gang hide.
