24-hour music concert conducted in Chennai area

Chennai: Ayodhya Mandapam in West Mambalam recently witnessed 24 hours of non-stop rendition of Carnatic music, much to the delight of rasikas in the city at T Nagar.

The event by Carva Trust, saw music being performed from 8.30 am on 14 July to 8.30 am the next day.

 

Among those who performed at the venue include musicians OS Thiagarajan, Thirumalai Brothers PB Shrirangachari and Embar Kasuri, AS Murali, Delhi Muthukumar, K Gayathri, Vidya Kalyanaraman, Palakkad Sreeram, Srimathi Baby Sreeram, Calcutta Sankar, Navaneet Krishnan Sri Aravind Soundararajan, Serugudi Sisters, Abhilash, Rahul Kalyananaraman, Nerkunam Kamakshi, Krithi Bhat, Melakaveri Thyagarajan, Neyveli Radhakrishna, R Rahul, Venkata Hemanth Kumar Thummnuri, Poongulam Ramakrishnan, Poongulam Subramaniam, B Ganapathiraman, Kallidaikuruchi Sivakumar, Neyveli Ramkumar, Texas Sivakumar, M S Varadhan, Kanchipuram Sri Sudharsan and Nerkunam Dr Sankar.

Speaking about the event, CA Rajasekar, musician and founder of the trust said,”Our aim is to propagate Carnatic music to youngsters and encourage them. Inspired by my father violin vidwan Chittoor Appanna Bhagavathar, I am continuing the practice of conducting Sri Thyagaraja Swamigal kritis agandha ghanam every year in Mambalam.”

R Rahul and Venkata Hemanth Kumar rendered violin throughout the akandam and Srivanchiyam Murali Bhagavathar rendered Anjaneya utsavam on 15 July, the release added.
