"TN ranks first among the States of India in terms of number of factories and industrial workers. It is the earliest State in commencing car manufacturing and has emerged as a leader in automobile manufacturing and the largest exporter of automobiles in India. Having an installed capacity to produce 1.42 lakh cars and about 3.61 lakh commercial vehicles each year, Chennai is one among the top 10 global auto hubs and contributes to 60 per cent of the country’s automotive exports," he said.
