AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Overseas is muse for 'em

Tamil film music is no longer composed within the four walls of the studio. The music directors these days venture to foreign land to compose for their films. Among them are Yuvanshankar Raja, Harris Jeyaraj, Bharadwaj, Vidyasagar and Srikanth Deva. Yuvanshankar Raja is a frequent flier. His favourite destination is Bangkok. Yuvan composed songs for Vallavan and Saththam Podathae in Bangkok. He returned recently after scoring music for Kettavan and is currently off to Maldives in search of tunes for Madhavan-starrer Vazhthukal.

Bharadwaj's favourite destinations are Malaysia and Singapore while Harris Jeyaraj and Srikanth Deva prefer to go London.

The much sought-after music composer A R Rehman works in various international projects. Forced to travel around the globe, Rehman not just composes music in foreign land for Tamil films but also records them there and arrives here with the final product.

What prompts these music composers to set off to foreign nations?

According to them, 'staying away from home helps us get engrossed in our work. We forget our family, friends and there is absolutely no disturbance from any quarters. We are more focused on the job'.

'The pressure is heavy on us. It is a competitive industry and we have to deliver our best. Hence we go abroad to concentrate on our work', they add.

However music director D Imman has different ideas.

'There is no joy like working on our own premises. I am sure that going to foreign countries will not have any effect on the quality of music. We already work on instruments manufactured abroad.'

Echoing the same, an avid music-buff says. 'where did the composers like M S Viswanathan and Ilayaraja go in their hey days? They still manage to come up with songs which are popular. It is a misconceived notion among today's music composers that going to foreign countries would inspire them to come up with good music'.

What more these music composers go abroad at the expense of the producers, he laments.
