AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

They share a unique bond

It can be said with some justification that Tamil film directors share a good rapport. Though their films compete at the box-office, there is nothing amiss in the camaraderie and cordial relations

This is evident from the fact that several Tamil film directors have turned producers in the recent past only to give opportunities to many of their ilk struggling for a break. Also, many have taken to acting in films directed by their peers, besides contributing behind the scenes to ensure success.

Director Shankar, who floated his own 'S' Pictures gave a new lease of life to directors Balaji Sakthivel and Vasanthabalan, whose maiden ventures bombed at the box-office.

Seeman accepted to do a cameo role in cinematographer-director Thangar Bachan's Pallikoodam. Azhagam Perumal penned the dialogues for his mentor Mani Ratnam's Tamil version of Guru.

Director-producer Lingusamy resurrected the career of Ezhil by giving him an opportunity to direct his home production Deepavali.

Director Saran floated a production company — Gemini Film Circuit — with the aim of encouraging and providing platform for talented directors. For Sivaji, director Shankar is assisted by a bunch of talented directors.

The likes of veteran S P Muthuraman and a young team comprising K V Anand, JD-Jerry, Gandhi Krishna and Balaji Sakthivel are assisting him in Sivaji.

Director Selvaraghavan's associate Jawahar will direct the Tamil remake of his guru's latest Telugu film.

'It's a healthy sign,' says Thangar Bachan. 'Creators know the pain and struggles of their ilk. They all live like a family and provide succour during difficult times.'

For Balaji Sakthivel, whose career looked on knife's edge after Samurai, Shankar gave him the lifeline in Kadhal. The youngster did well to make the most of the opportunity.

Lingusamy and Saran say, 'We chose to produce movies only to encourage young directors. Being directors ourselves, we give them the ample freedom and encouragement in every possible way. There is so much of team work involved.'
