After playing Periyar recently, Sathyaraj now dons the role of a 80-year-old man in Thangar Bachan's Onbathu Rupai Nottu.
The movie, inspired by Thangar Bachan's short story with the same title, features former national award-winning actress Archana.
It is one of the challenging characters that I have played in my career spanning three decades, Sathyaraj said and added, 'I developed a good rapport with Thangar when we both worked together for Periyar.'
'When he narrated the story of Onbathu Rupai Nottu, I decided to do it immediately,' he added.
On his part, Thangar Bachan said, 'it is story of an elderly coupe left uncared by their kith and kin. The film revolves around three different periods. The narration begins in 1972 and ends in 2007'.
Thangar says, ' the audience is always receptive to good themes. They are ready to welcome new themes. The success of Pallikoodam is a pointer to it'.
'We shot a major portion of the film in interior Tamilnadu and people turned up in large numbers to encourage us during the shooting', Thangar says.
Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics for the songs. After a song, I felt myself completely immersed in the script. Thangar's characterisations moved me.'
B Lenin handles editing. The star- cast includes Nasser and Rohini.
'We promise to render a quality entertainer for the audience', is how Thangar winds up.
