        Karan, who managed a comeback with Kokki, consolidated his place in the industry with Karuppasamy Kuthagaikarar. Though his Thee Nagar won critical acclaim, the movie witnessed lukewarm response at the box office. Now, Karan is gearing up to commence his next titled Kathavarayan.

        Speaking about the movie, Karan says, 'I play a youth selling illicit arrack in a village. But not a villain. Popular Tollywood actress Archana is my heroine. 'Salangai Durai, who has penned story for several movies in Tamil and Telugu films, is making his foray as director'.

        After Thee Nagar, I was waiting for a different storyline. When Salangai Durai narrated the story of Kathavarayan, I was impressed and Immediately agreed to do the film'.

        A former associate of K Bhagyaraj, Salangai Durai, says, 'it is a hilarious entertainer and the title role is tailor-made for Karan. Vidisha, who has acted in half-a-dozen Telugu movies, is cast as a college student who falls in love with Kathavarayan'.
