AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

They too will be praying, for success

In just over a week's time, an entire nation will keep their fingers crossed and pray for the Indian team's success in the cricket World Cup in the Caribbean. On the other hand, in Tamilnadu, film personalities (producers, directors, actors and actresses) would also be praying. However, it would be in the hope that films featuring their wards slated for release fare well at the box-office as it would decide their fortunes in the industry.

Also, it is common in Tamil filmdom for sons and daughters of veteran film personalities to try their luck in the industry. Veteran director P Vasu's son Sakthi will have his debut venture Thottal Poo Malarum releasing soon. Vasu, a successful director in a career spanning over two decades is wielding the megaphone for the movie.

Santhanu, son of actor-director Bhagiyaraj, is making a foray with Sakkarai Katti. The movie is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu.

Also ready to test the water is Suchindra Bali. Son of yesteryear heroine Vyjayanthimala Bali, he makes his debut with Ninathalae, being produced and directed by Vishwas Sundar.

Actor and MLA S Ve Shekher's son Krishna will have his maiden venture as a hero kick off later this month, while veteran producer Khaja Mohideen is keen to introduce his son as a hero in his forthcoming venture. Noted stunt master Jaguar Thangam's son too is entering filmdom. Having done their home work, the newcomers are confident of putting up a good show.

According to Santhanu, 'I am tense and thrilled as my film is nearing completion. Being son of a popular film personality puts added pressure on me. The audience expects me to do in my first venture what my father could after years of experience.'

Echoining the views is Sakthi. 'Having seen my father at close quarters, I have imbibed a lot of positive energy and zeal to excel from him. Though my entry has been made easy thanks to my father, all depends on the outcome of the movie. From here on, only talent counts.'

While a majority of the sons/daughters of film personalities have gone on to become stars in their own right in Kollywood, a few of them have ended up as one-film wonders. 'Unless you have talent and individuality, a prolonged innings in the industry would remain a dream,' they say in chorus.
