Nalla Muthukumaraswamy was nabbed here when he came to meet a producer seeking a role in his movie, police said. Two policemen masquerading as cinema agents hunting for junior artists took him in their custody from the producer's office after he tipped them off, they said.
The 22-year-old Muthukumaraswamy was later handed over to his mother Sudalaivadivu who had filed a complaint with city police in March, seeking their help to trace her son.
Muthukumaraswamy was employed with Asin in Chennai and left with her to Mumbai more than a year ago when the actress moved to the metro to shoot for the Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini, Sudalaivadivu had said earlier.
Tiruvallur SP, M C Sarangan, said Muthukumaraswamy had visited various states after resigning as Asin's assistant and did not come to Chennai.
Special teams formed to nab Muthukumaraswamy had maintained a surveillance on him based on his ATM transactions and cellphone records, police said. In March, Sudalaivadivu had alleged in her complaint that her son had gone to Mumbai along with Asin as her assistant but later lost contact with her.
There was no 'proper response' from Asin when she was contacted to know the whereabouts of her son, Sudalaivadivu had claimed, adding the actresses's father had informed the local police in Mumbai that Muthukmaraswamy had resigned in January this year.
No case has been filed against Muthukmaraswamy so far, police said.
