The police also issued local alert saying Central government offices and Sri Lankan establishments among others could be the target of pro-Sri Lankan Tamil activists in the State.
Security has been beefed up across the State even as increased vigil was in place at the coastal areas bordering Sri Lanka, police sources said.
All this had been done keeping in mind the ‘situation of war’, in Sri Lanka, sources said, adding pro-Tamil activists could target the afore said places as had happened in the recent past.
While the Bank of Ceylon was attacked by a group of advocates over the ‘Eelam’ issue a few months back, the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission had came under attack from pro-Tamil groups. Three Central government offices were locked up by unidentified miscreants in Chennai last month.
High vigil was in place at coastal areas bordering Sri Lanka for the past few days and security had been beefed up across the state to prevent any untoward incidents, sources said.
