Deputy Chief Minister of Tamilnadu M K Stalin today said there was a need to find a water source that could provide 15 TMC water to Chennai per year.

Speaking in the Assembly after he tabled demands for grants for Local Administration and Rural Development Departments, Stalin said there were plans to appoint an advisor who could plan and execute a project to fulfill the water needs. ‘The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board is taking efforts to provide quality drinking water to the residents of Chennai,’ he said. On the Hogenakkal drinking water project, the Deputy Chief Minister said preliminary work was on and the project would be completed by December 2012. ‘The project, once completed, will provide safe drinking water to people in the districts of Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. All tenders invited for the project are in the final stage of processing,’ he said. |
