‘Film industry in a shambles’

Tamil film producers have sustained a loss of Rs 50 crore in the last couple of months, Sivasakthi Pandian, secretary, Tamil Film Producers Council has said.

Speaking at the audio launch of the movie Moonar here on Saturday, Pandian said, ‘none of the movie released in April this year managed to collect revenue. It is time to take a corrective measure’.

FEFSI president V C Guganathan said, ‘it’s unfortunate that we are facing bad times.

The situation can change if only the producers are more assertive. They have to choose right scripts and market their product in a better way’.

Film distributor Kalaipuli G Sekaran, lyricist Piraisoodan and producer Kovaithambi also spoke.

Moonaru, directed by Thambi Durai features Prem, Ranjith and Ragasiya among others in the lead roles. Devendran has scored music for the movie.
