A special team of police, which was formed to crack the case, examined the laptop and mobilephone of Nithyakumari. The identity of her lover was obtained. According to sources, Rajath Singh used to visit the airhostess’s house often. He was summoned for interrogation. During enquiry, he is said to have informed the police that he had been in love with Nithyakumari since their college days. ‘We even obtained permission from our parents’ for our wedding. We proposed to get married after Nithyakumari’s elder sister entered wedlock,’ he told the police. He also said he had no clues of Nithyakumari’s death. Yesterday, Chennai Police Commissioner K Radhakrishnan told reporters that they had obtained some leads and were carrying out investigations in that direction. There is no doubt that Nithyakumari was found dead under mysterious circumstances. ‘We are carrying out investigations with her parents and some of her friends. There are chances of the case coming to an end soon,’ he said. |
