Bride calls off marriage at the last moment
In a sudden jolt to the wedding groom and his parents, the bride walked off from the marriage podium at Pattabhiram, a city suburb, stating that she was not ready for the nuptial knot.
Sreejith Kumar, a resident of Anna Nagar, was engaged to Suja from Pattabhiram and their marriage was expected to take place this morning in that suburb.
With all arrangements having been made by both the parties and the marriage hall packed with visitors and friends, it was an unexpected shock for the groom and his parents as the bride stood up and told a stunned gathering that she was not going to marry.
Despite repeated appeals and persuasion by the well-wishers, Suja took an adamant stand that she was not for marriage. Shocked by the turn of events, groom’s parents lodged a complaint at Pattabhiram Police station.
Hearing the incident, police rushed to the spot and in their preliminary enquiry found the bride had decided not to get married due to a recurring stomach pain. However, not satisfied with her reply, the police have taken up the investigation to find out the reason behind her sudden U-turn to call off the proposed marriage.
