Chennai City Traffic Police (CCTP) has announced temporary traffic diversions at Panagal Park, T Nagar, to facilitate hassle-free vehicular movement on Akshaya Trithi Day (27 April).

According to a press release from CCTP, vehicles carrying senior citizens and physically challenged persons would be allowed upto Panagal Park and Corporation Middle School on Prakasam Road.

The police personnel would divert autorickshaws at Venkatnarayana Road-Nageswara Rao Road junction towards Prakasam Road to avoid traffic snarls on Nageswara Rao Road, Usman Road and Duraisamy Road.

The CCTP would allow autorickshaws to drop passengers at Dhandapani Street and Burkit Road junction. They would block all the roads connecting Dhandapani Street to Usman Road and South Dhandapani Street to South Usman Road at the entrance and not permit autorickshaws on Usman Road and South Usman Road.

They would impose restriction on the movement of autorickshaws on  Thyagaraya Road and Thanikachalam Road towards Panagal Park, Brindavan Junction towards Panagal Park, Muthurangan Salai towards Madley Junction, Burkit Road and Dhandapani Street Junction towards Madley, Coats Road and North Usman service road towards Panagal Park, Rohini roundabout towards Panagal Park, North Usman Road and Maharajapuram Santhanam Salai Junction towards Panagal Park and Venkatnarayana Road Road-Nageswara Rao Road Junction towards Pothys.

Vehicles proceeding towards Adyar from Anna Nagar via Panagal Park would have to take the Kodambakkam High Road, Valluvar Kottam, Nungambakkam High Road, Anna rotary route to reach Adyar. Vehicles proceeding towards Anna Nagar from Adyar would have to go via Cenotaph Road, Anna Salai, Vijayaraghava Road, Dr Nair Road, Vani Mahal, Thirumalai Road and Valluvar Kottam to reach Anna Nagar.

Similarly, vehicles proceeding towards West Mambalam from Adyar have to take  Anna Salai, CIT First Main Road, Nandi junction, New Boag Road and Aranganathan subway route to reach West Mambalam. Vehicles proceeding towards West Mambalam from Anna Salai  could use Anna Salai Clover Leaf Road, Anna rotary, Nungambakkam High Road, Kodambakkam High Road, Kodambakkam Bridge and Arcot Road to reach West Mambalam.

Parking of cars and two-wheelers would be allowed at S B car parking lot on Ramanathan Street, Rikesh car parking in New Postal Colony, Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School (Main) on Bashyam Road, Corporation Middle School on Prakasam Road, Saradha Girls Higher Secondary School, North Usman Road and Saradha Girls Higher Secondary School, Burkit Road.

Car parking would be allowed on Somasundaram playground at T Nagar, Burkit Road (from Burkit Road-Dhandapani Street junction to Burkit Road-Moopparappan Street junction), Bashyam Road (one side car parking), Prakasam Road (one side car parking) and G N Chetty Road, the release said. The release added that two-wheeler parking facilities would be available on Mahalakshmi Street and at J K car parking on Ramanathan Street.
