An AIADMK functionary and 10 others were injured when police resorted to a lathicharge inside a polling booth at a Higher Secondary school at Teni.   

 

Police said the AIADMK functionary and party workers tried to prevent a DMK local functionary from entering the booth and 'rigging' the poll, following which a clash broke out.

However, officials managed to secure the Electronic Voting Machines. Police, who had taken video footage of the incident, said they had to intervene to disperse the group 'as the clash went out of control.'
   
Police also registered cases against members of both groups.
