Taking Tamil films to Norway

Tamil films are slowly crossing borders and exploring new markets and frontiers. Recently a host of Tamil movies were screened in various international film festivals across the globe.

A Tamil film festival is going to be held in Norway next month under the auspicies of Moser Baer.

According G Dhananjayan of Moser Baer, ' with a view to promote Tamil cinema globally, we have associated with Norway-based Tamil associations led by Vaseeharan Sivalingam’s VN Music Dreams and organising a Tamil film festival there from 6 to 9 February.'

The Tamil films selected for screening at the festival includes Subramaniapuram, Pasanga, Nadodigal, Anjathey, Nandalala, Ee, Peranmai, Poo, Raman Thediya Seethai, Mayandi Kudumbathar.

Some of the directors of these films inlcuding Sasikumar, Myskkin, Samudhirakani and S P Jananathan will be attending the festival.

'It is a first such initiative to reach out to the Tamils in Norway. The festival would also be screening some films made by local Tamils there to encourage local talent and take views from the eminent directors attending the festival.'
