Injuries have proved to be a bane for Chennai Super Kings in the last couple of years. First, high-profile ‘pick’ Andrew Flintoff cried out after a few matches in IPL-II due to injury. |

The influential New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram suffered an injury and his absence came as a blow for CSK ahead of IPL-III. As if it was not enough, the skipper M S Dhoni has been rendered hors de combat after being hit by a Shane Bond express delivery during the win against KKR on Tuesday. Now, there is some good news, fast-rising Australian pace bowler Doug Bollinger is set to join the CSK team as a replacement for the injured Oram. According to a tweet by IPL CEO Sundar Raman, Bollinger is headed for Chennai (Super Kings) in place of Oram. ‘Douggie Bollinger to debut for CSK, replaces injured Jacob Oram who is out for the entire series,’ Sundar Raman said in his tweet. Bollinger, the Aussie left-arm paceman, has proved to a tricky customer for rival batsmen in his brief international career thus far, picking up 27 Test and 33 ODI wickets and has had the best hopping around at the crease. The lanky Bollinger is likely to join CSK after the ongoing Australia-New Zealand series, which concludes 31 March. Meanwhile, there was some bad news for Kings XI Punjab as Queensland all-rounder James Hopes suffered a grade one calf injury in the ongoing Sheffield Shield final against Victoria. The problem means Hopes will be out for up to three weeks, which threatens his plans of appearing in both the World Twenty20 and the IPL. |
