Short route to 22 holy wells in temple reopened

The authorities of Sri Ramanathaswamy temple here today reopened the short route for the 22 Holy water sites in the shrine following complaints that old people were not able to trek the long distance.

The Joint Commissioner T.Rajamanickam said  pilgrims,in the last two years,had to make a detour of more than one km for bathing in all the wells.

  The temple administration with a view to tightening security have installed closed circuit TV and cameras to monitor movement of people in various enclosures of the temple.Besides illumination had been provied in every nook and corner.

   A programme has also been launched to clean the 'vahanas' and gold plated doors, among others, temple sources said.

  The Hundi income touched Rs 80 lakh this year from Rs.five lakh about four years ago, sources said.

   To provide better amenities for the pilgrims,all pilgrim centres/cottages of the shrine were being renovated and
water treatment plants installed at important places in the temple.
