Over 120 persons working in a cell phone accessories manufacturing company at Sriperumbudur were admitted to hospital after inhaling poisonous gas that emanated from the factory.

It was immediately closed Foxconn, located at Sungavarpakkam in Sriperumbudur manufactures computer and cell phone accessories. Over 5000 people are employed.

Yesterday at around 2 pm, poisonous gas emanated at a unit where over 80 persons were working. Even those at the second shift that commenced at 2 pm swooned . many complained of dizziness and vomiting.

 

They were immediately rushed to hospital where they were given first-aid and later discharged.

Sources say gas leak from the air-conditioner could have been the reason for the accident. It is also said that pesticide were sprayed around the factory that could have been the reason for the mishap.
