The over 700-year-old Maragathavalli Sri Veerajambukeswarar Koil, an ancient Sivan temple at Kunnathur village in Tiruvannamalai district, is to be renovated.
Falling within the Polur division, the temple is said to be constructed during 1302-1317 AD during the reign of King Veerasambuvarayar who ruled this part of Kunnathur Village, also known as Jambukesawaram by the locals. |

After decades of neglect, this place of worship would be given a face-lift a ground-breaking ceremony for which was held today.
Accordingly, the bhoomi puja with a set of rituals such as abishekam, alankaram and aradhana was performed this morning in the presence of Thiruvannamalai District Collector M Rajendran and other religious heads.
