The temple is located on the Chennai-Arakonam route at a distance of five km from Thiruvalangadu Temple.
Along with the 1,200-years old temple with the presiding deities of Sri Anandavalli and Sri Thirunandeeswarar, the renovation work on Sri Kamakshiamman-Sri Karkadakeswarar, Sri Sakthi Ganapathi and Sri Kandaswamy temples has also been taken up.
Legend has it that Lord Shiva gave darshan to sage Agasthiyar here when the sage was not able to be present in His marriage that took place at Kailash, as he was ordained by Shiva to go to the South to balance the earth as the whole world converged on the North to witness His marriage.
It is also believed that the Nandi Bhagawan worshipped Lord Shiva and was cleansed of his sins here, hence the name Sri Thirunandeeswarar.
