(Thirutham)

Choreographer-turned-actor Hari Kumar made his mark playing the role of a gangster in Thoothukudi. In Thirutham, he plays a protagonist, who goes on a revenge mode against woman.
Directed by debutant Ponraman, the movie is inspired by the likes of Kalyanaraman, Manmathan and Nan Avan Illai. Hari Kumar has plenty of scope to perform as he appears in the role of a suave, urban youth in the first half and as a psycho in the second.
Priyanka, who stole the scenes in Veyyil, plays a caring doctor. Nasser and Adhitya as a doctor and a tough policeman fit the bill. The movie begins with Karthik, a cyber-savvy youth, coming to Bangalore to meet his online friend Priya (Mansi). He eventually woos her and marries her.
In a few days, Mansi comes to know Karthik’s true colours as he disappears only to be caught for trying to marry another girl. Saravanan (Adithya), a honest policeman, tracks down Karthik’s past. A flashback reveals the motive behind his acts.
Director Ponraman deserves pat for managing to sustain the momentum in the second half.
