AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Gore and gross

(Veeramum Iramum)

Director Sanjay Ram has made it a habit to churn out movies on the underworld. Not deviating from the storyline followed in his earlier films Thoothukudi and Aadu Puli Aatam, he has come out with Veeramum Iramum, apparently inspired by the life of gangster Venkatesa Pannaiyar, who was killed in an encounter by the police. The movie is filled with gore and bloodshed.

The director, seemingly influenced by Ramgopal Verma's Bollywood movies on similar subjects has tried too many things. After an excellent portrayal as Chitappu in Paruthiveeran, Saravanan shoulders the burden playing the male protoganist. An apt choice, Saravanan plays Sankaran Pannaiyar, who commands the respect of villagers.

He adopts violent means only to maintain peace in the village. He is pitted against his sibling Semmari, who vows to finish off Pannaiyar and his family. The two are more often than not fighting one another.

When things go out of control in the village, the police force steps in. The local Superintendent of Police Veerasangili (Deepan Chakravarthy) is entrusted with the job of restoring peace in the village.

A strict officer, he adopts various means to bring the two under control. When all his attempts fail, he is forced to take the extreme step.

Yugendran, son of veteran playback singer 'Malaysia' Vasudevan, makes his debut as music composer in the movie. The cast includes Thanu Roy and Alex among others. Sanjay Ram plays a pivotal role.

In a bid to dish out an out and out action film, Sanjay Ram has lost his grip on the screenplay. The characters lack conviction. Apparently inspired by movies like Nayakan and Virumandi, the director has made a rather unimpressive attempt with Veeramum Iramum.
