Chennai, Jan 29:
Founder- leader of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Ramadoss today accused the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau - Crime Investigation Department (NIB- CID) of the State police as 'rotten'. He also said narcotic substances including ganja were 'freely available' near schools in Chennai.
Addressing mediapersons, PMK leader accused the NIB of rank corruption and inefficiency and also said the entire department was 'rotten'.
'Though the department has special and flying teams to detect and prevent narcotics, they have not taken any steps to stop the sale of ganja near some schools in the city,' Ramadoss said.
He also faulted the whole narcotics unit of the State police right from the top most official with corruption and inefficiency.
'What will happen to the future of children if they become addicted to ganja at a young age,' Ramadoss wanted to know and added the parents are worried because of this. He urged the government to take stern action against officials who failed to discharge their duties and curb the narcotics trade.
On the bypolls to the Chennai Corporation, Ramadoss said Councillors who resigned their seats would be renominated. 'Jayalalithaa has said the AIADMK would boycott civic polls. I hope she does not reverse her stand,' the PMK leader quipped.
The government should encourage industries which manufacture battery operated two- wheelers as these vehicles are cost- effective.
Deemed universities and self
financing colleges are 'looting money.' Income tax raids should continue
on such institutions, he said.
