Rhein Chemie group, the Mannheim-based global supplier of additives and service products for the rubber and plastic industries, has commenced producing polymer-bound rubber chemicals (rhenogran) used by the tyre and technical rubber industries at its Madurai facility recently.
Disclosing about the new facility to the mediapersons, CEO and president of Rhein Chemie group Dr Anno Borkowsky, said, 'His company is viewing India as a growing market for its customised additives and services products business in which it has more than 100 years of experience.'
Profiling the history of the Madurai plant, country representative and managing director of Lanxess India Dr Joerg Stressburger, said in 2005, Rhein Chemie started production of environmental friendly water based release agents ( rhenodiv) at the Lanxess site in Madurai. The agents are applied while making radial tyres. As the market for radial tyres is rapidly growing and with increasing eco consci-ousness, the company hopes to double its market share to 25 per cent in a couple of years and reach a capacity of 2000 tonnes a year, he added. He further added that in a year's time, the company has gained a market share of 10 per cent.
The group has more than 9000
customers in over 120 countries. It has production facilities in the US,
Germany, Belgium, Japan, China and India.
