CPCL to upgrade fuel standards

        The 58th Republic Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), Manali on Friday.

        Speaking on the occasion after unfurling the national flag, managing director of CPCL, K K Acharya announced that the company board had given in-principle approval for the project for quality upgradation of petrol and diesel to Euro IV standards at a cost of about Rs1,665 crore and the Resid Up gradation project at a cost of about Rs 3,000 crore.

        Further, he said that CPCL is also working on proposals like Propylene Expansion project at a cost of about Rs 300 crore and Refining Capacity Augmentation projects at an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore for Manali Refinery. These projects would enhance bottom line and ensure that CPCL meets the stringent environment norms, he said.

        Earlier, Acharya took the salute at an impressive parade by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent stationed at CPCL.

        Senior executives of CPCL and a large number of employees along with their family members participated in the celebrations.

        On the occasion, Acharya presented the Service awards / Suggestion awards / Meritorious awards for the employees, a press release said.
