For Chennai police it was a long ordeal. But success came at last when they nabbed a 10-member gang who were involved in various cases of thefts by breaking open the window grille of houses at suburbs. Police recovered 1,000 sovereign of jewels from them. During the last seven years, the grille thieves had showed their might at
Velachery, Thoraipakkam, Perungudi, Madipakkam and Keezhkattalai areas. The gang targeted locked houses where they removed the windows and walked away with the valuables. Following this a special team under Additional Commissioner of Police
S R Jangid was formed to
nab the gang. The team collected finger prints from the houses and compared
it with the local criminals which it did not match. Acting on a information,
the police team arrested the gang at Kolkata and brought them to Chennai.
