AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Gearing up for a break

Remember the girl who shaked her leg for the song Chenna Pattanam ellam kattanum with Prabhu Deva. She is Kalyanee, now rechristened as Poornitha for various reasons.

'I have taken a new avatar as Poornitha and I want people to recognise me as a heroine now,' says the actress.

Poornitha started compereing for shows when she was barely seven and acted in many films as a child artiste which includes Allithantha vanam, Jayam, Ramana and Sri. She has also acted in more than 175 commercials apart from doing roles in television serials.

Having completed two films now, one in Telugu titled Manchu-kurise Veelao and one in Malayalam titled SMS, the young girl is waiting for recognition as a heroine.

'I studied in Bala Vidya Mandir till my 10th standard. I am presently doing my 12th standard by correspondence,' says Poornitha who reveals that she has never enjoyed studying as much as she enjoyed acting.

Poornitha accepts that it will take at least two or three films to make people recognise her histrionic skills as a heroine.

Talking about her debut film Parthi Nayayiru 9 -10.30, she says that though the movie was not a success, she got good press reviews.

Poornitha has always been interested in acting right from her childhood and now she seems all determined to make a mark as an actress too.

'I want to act in good movies and get noticed for my acting talents. My father is a navy pilot and he had always wanted me to become a professional but now he wants me to excel in the field of acting ', adds Poornitha. Poornitha derived her interest for arts from her mother who is a classical dancer.

'I have acted in many ads with Priya Mani and she is my best friend in the industry', says Poornitha. The only child of her parents, Poornitha is waiting to make an impression as an actress in the tinsel town.
