        A businessman who was allegedly involved in manufacturing pirated DVDs and VCDs of recently released Tamil movies was detained under Goondas Act today.

        The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police said businessman Raja alias Kuzhandai Raj (26) of Royapuram was manufacturing pirated DVDs and VCDs of newly released films such as 'Pallikoodam', 'Arya' and 'Marudamalai'.

        In a raid conducted last night, the police recovered the equipment worth Rs 50 lakh, including 10,300 compact discs, MP3 players, DVD writers and player and 1,000 wrappers.
