        Claiming that it was the previous AIADMK government which acquired land to start works on Polur-Sengam road, AIADMK treasurer O Panneerselvam today asserted that the stance of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on road laying works in Tiruvannamalai District was not true.

        In a statement here, Pannerselvam said that Karunanidhi had averred the DMK government started the land acquisition works after coming to power in 2006.

        'The Chief Minister's statement was far from truth since it was the AIADMK government that started the works,' said Pannerselvam and added that works were only delayed in the DMK rule.

        He also condemned Karunanidhi for criticising AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa in the issue by hiding the truth.
