GASSED OUT: The spot where the three were killed.

Three people died of asphyxiation when they inhaled a poisonous gas while cleaning a septic tank of an apartment at suburban Pallikkaranai this morning.         Police sources said the apartment people had engaged Krishnaiah (50), Ravi (35) and Kannaiah (30) to remove the blocks in the tank.         The trio, residing at Nasarathpuram, commenced the cleaning works last night.         Ravi who first entered the tank fell unconscious. Kanniah went to his rescue and met with the same fate as also Krishnaiah.         As there was no response from the trio, people in the apartment grew panicky and alerted the police and fire service personnel.         The fire service personnel from Guindy Raj Bhavan rushed to the place in the wee hours of today. They fished out the bodies from the tank.         The three bodies were sent to a Royapettah Government Hospital for post mortem. Krishnaiah is survived by his wife Peramma and two sons and two daughters. Pallikaranai police have registered a case and are investigating.
