Minister for Highways and Minor Ports M P Saminathan lauching the new website of Tamilnadu Highways Engineers Association recently.

        Tamilnadu Highways Engineers Association launched its new website www.highwayengineers.com during a function here recently in order to make the works of Highways Department more efficient and transparent.

        The website was launched by Minister for Highways and Minor Ports M P Saminathan.

        In his inauguration speech, he highlighted the initiatives taken by the department after he took over and said that as part of e- governance initiative to make work more transparent, the department has introduced e -tender.

        About the demands raised by the association during the function, he gave his consent by ensuring to look into matters and taking up the issue with Tamilnadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Highways Secretary K Allaudhin emphasised the importance of Highways Department in the development process and applauded the efforts of workers and engineers to improve the facilities.

        Highlighting the role of internet, he said efforts were on to allow submission of bids for projects worth over Rs 10 lakh through the Internet from October.
