State Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi today urged officials of Information and Public Relations Department to use latest technology to disseminate information about the government's schemes, policy and achievements to the public.
Presiding over a review meeting Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) here, the Minister said computers, printers and scanners had been given to all the district Information and Public Relations offices. An order had been issued to use BSNL broadband internet facility through National Informatics Centre(NIC), he said.
Stressing the importance of computerisation, Ilamvazhuthi said every office of the department should create its own database of important events in the district, press release, photos, newspaper offices, reporters and photographers.
An uniform software to create database would be developed by the NIC, he said. Stating that press releases and photos of many districts were not appearing on the government website, he said that steps have to be taken to immediately upload the release onto the site.
