        Tata Steel has appointed H M Nerurkar as chief operating officer of the company. In his new role, Nerurkar will report to the deputy managing director, steel. Nerurkar is a graduate from the College of Engineering, Pune University and has completed his Business Management from France. He started his career with Tata Steel in 1972 working at the R&D division and then moved to the marketing segment as director, marketing. Before being appointed as GM, he was VP, Flat products after which he moved on to become VP, Kalinganagar Project and Technology in 2006.

        PSL Ltd has set up its new pipe mill manufacturing facility in June 2007. Located in the Hamriyah Fee Trade Zone in Sharjah, UAE, with a total land area of 18 acre. The facility is now operational and has recently bagged an order from UAE itself, as well as another Middle East market namely Oman. The first order is valued approximately $2.4 million. Sharjah facility has an initial installed pipe manufacturing capacity of 75,000 MT/annum of spiral pipes, a three-layered polyethylene coating line, an internal liquid epoxy coating line, and a concrete weight coating unit. Employment at full capacity for the plant will be 123 individuals.

        Airtel and Mphasis announced the inauguration of a new BPO facility in Puducherry. The company will provide contact centre services exclusively to Bharti Airtel. This is the fourth Mphasis BPO facility that caters exclusively to Bharti Airtel, the other three being Bangalore and Noida. This state-of-the-art contact centre, will serve as a customer service centre for Airtel customers in Tamilnadu. The facility has begun the operation with 300 customer service agents. Mphasis is looking forward to increasing the capacity to 1000 seats in the next two years.
