Sir,
On the occasion of the release of a book containing the Parliamentary speeches of Maulana Syed Asad Madani, the Prime Minister called for eschewing the use of religion for electoral gains. 'The use of religion for
dividing people and getting electoral benefit is a bane of our age .It is a dangerous practice which needs to be curbed,' he said.
To whom is the Prime Minister addressing this - to himself and the Congress party? Only recently in the electoral campaign in UP, he stated that the UPA government is committed to the upliftment of the Muslims. It was not long ago that he made his famous 'secular' statement that the Muslims have the first right to the resources of the country.
So it is baffling when the Prme Minister called for eschewing religion. The Congress party and its allies have gone all out in their appeasement policy and have outrageously divided the people on religious lines
and for benefit of electoral gains. If strategies are devised to uplift the poor and the poorest of the poor have the first right to the resources of this country, will be logical and just, and set in the right direction.
But with a separate Ministry for the Muslims,a separate budget and Welfare Board, subsidy for Haj and now a quota for the Muslims etc all these are testimonials of the Prime Minister and the Congress being
communal to the core. Hence his speech on the occasion of the book release was hollow, and hypocritical. Manmohan has descended to a new low. It is a pity.

Sir,
The Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has expressed grave concern about MPs being involved in human traffiking. In fact, the most disturbing fact is allowing people with criminal and dubious background to stand for elections.
All political parties must jointly decide on norms regarding giving tickets to individuals (including independents) to contest elections.
