The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) will issue applications for free bus passes for students from 1 June.
According to a press release, MTC Managing Director R Balasubramanian held discussions with Education Department officials of Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts yesterday.
The details about the issue of the computrised bus passes will be passed on to principals of the schools.
The free bus pass scheme covers students studying from I standard to XII standard in all government recognised schools. The issue of passes would be done by a private agency.
The MTC officials would inform
the schools the date when the agency would go to their premises to photograph
and issue the computerised passes.
