Chennai, Mar 26:
The junction of Velacheri Main Road with Sardar Patel Road has been a traffic bottleneck. And vehicles that move towards Saidapet from Velacheri had to manoeuver a narrow patch of road just before the traffic signal.
The Corporation sub-station near the gas station here is now being demolished in an attempt to widen the road width. 'The traffic island opposite to the petrol bunk has been removed,' says Murali, Asst. Engineer, at the Corporation, Maduvankarai.
But the roadside kiosks here
are involved in a legal dispute. And they are expected to be removed from
the sidewalk, after a court decree. The central median at this stretch
will then be shifted suitably to integrate the increased road width.
