        Congress member P Gnanasekaran today called for strong measures to curb LTTE activities in the State.

        Speaking on the budget discussion at the Assembly, he said that some leaders in Tamilnadu were openly supporting the LTTE and demanded action against them and their organisations.

        Congress was not against the struggle of Tamils in Sri Lanka for their due rights, but at the same time the government should take stringent measures to control the LTTE which was a banned outfit in the country, he said.

        Gnanasekaran urged the government to take a positive decision on satellite townships near Chennai as announced in the last year's interim budget for real estate prices had increased manyfold and people could not afford to buy plots in the city.
