        A man, who indulged in waylaying people at knife- point on the 100 Feet Road at Koyambedu has been arrested by the police and five stolen motorcycles were recovered from him.

        On receipt of information that a man on motorcycle on the busy road was threatening passersby at knife- point to part with their money, Koyambedu police rounded up the criminal Achudanandan (21) of Villupuram.

        Two passengers bound for Malaysia were held at the Chennai airport late last night as they were in possession of Rs 50 crore worth of intoxicants.

        The arrested, police said, were Mohamad Masood (28) and Areez (25) from Ellis area on Anna Salai.

        They were waiting to board a Malaysian Airlines flight when the officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, on suspicion, checked their baggage. They found 25 kg of drugs in each of their luggage.

        According to sources, the value of the confiscate drug is worth Rs 50 crore in the international markets.

        Personnel of Narcotics Control Bureau were questioning the arrested duo in this connection.
