With pollution increasing because of burning garbage, residents in the Union Territory have urged the Pollution Control Board to take immediate steps in this regard in association with police and local administration departments.
According to reports, the burning of plastic waste in Villiayanoor, Thirubhuvanai, Lawspet, Mudhaliarpet and Bagoor have been on the rise. It results in polluting the environment and creating health hazards in localities.
Disgruntled residents have now raised their voice against the garbage being burnt at will in the residential areas. They demand the authorities concerned to take steps to prevent the environment getting polluted.
The Pollution Control Board
along with Local Administration and police officials should enforce strict
laws to prevent such callous acts, they say. Awareness campaign should
be conducted regularly, the residents add.
