Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has constituted a committee headed by State Higher Education Minister
K Ponmudy to scrutinise and select applications seeking pension, submitted by Tamil scholars.
An official press release here yesterday said MLAs
V Mullaivendan, V Karuppasamy Pandian, E S S Raman,
N Nanmaran and T Velmuruganwould be members of the committee. The Secretary, Department of Tamil Development and Director, Department of Tamil Development, would be ex-officio members of the committee.

Free medical camp

Muthu Pharmacy Charitable Trust will conduct its 70th free medical camp, as part of the Republic Day celebrations tomorrow at the trust office, 35, Gangadheeswarar Koil Street, Purasawalkam.
Finance Minister K Anbalagan will inaugurate the camp. According to a press release, patients will be treated for heart, ENT, eye, bone and dental ailments.
