        Tension prevailed at Thirumangalam here today after motorists and pedestrians suffered from signs of dizziness and watering of eyes when toxic fumes emanated from a chemical that had spilt from a lorry.

        According to police, there was some chemical spill from a lorry on the 100 Feet Road and the alert driver halted his vehicle immediately.

        The motorists and the passersby on the road complained of dizziness and eyesore following the spill.

        A few of them even reportedly suffered from vomitting.

        Thirumangalam police, who rushed to the spot, summoned the Corporation officials immediately and works were taken up to clear the chemical from the road.

        Those involved in the clearing work also suffered dizziness.

        People heaved a sigh of relief after the place was cleared completely of the chemical.
