        Two persons were killed in two different road accidents here.

        Police said one Sridhar in his motorcycle was travelling towards Uthiramerur and fell down when the tyre burst. He received serious head injuries and died without responding to treatment.

        In another incident, the victim Philips in his motorcycle was travelling from Madurantakam to Chengalpattu. He was knocked down by a lorry and died on the spot.

        Councillor's hubby in hot water

        The husband of a woman Councillor was arrested as he got into a fight with a conservancy staff.

        Police said Selvaraj, a conservancy worker at Chengalpattu Municipality, was accused by Kannadasan, husband of councillor Sri Devi, of not properly clearing the garbage on Cinnamman Koil Street. This led to verbal conflict between the two and it degenerated into fisticuffs. And Selvaraj was assaulted, it is alleged.

        Following a complaint from Selvaraj, Kannadasan was arrested.
